Pilot position applications

The 130th usually conducts an annual hiring board for the HC-130J Combat King II aircraft annually. Applications are not currently open. Please check back periodically here or at guardreservejobs.com for announcements...

The primary mission of the 130th RQS is Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) which involves NVG low-level operations, helicopter air refueling, along with airdrops of Pararescue jumpers and their equipment. The unit participates in AEF rotations and does deploy overseas. We are based at Moffett Air National Guard Base in the heart of Silicon Valley. Prerequisites

  • U.S. citizen
  • Able to obtain a security clearance
  • Have or about to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree (in any subject)
  • Be under 32 years of age (non-rated applicants). Applicants with a commission but without an Aeronautical Order must additionally have less than 5 years Total Federal Commissioned Service.
  • Meet Air Force physical fitness standards
  • Live near Moffett Federal Airfield or commit to relocate to the area and be able to support yourself financially in the Bay Area

Required Documents

  • Cover Letter containing information why you want to be a pilot with the 130th RQS, current living location, and contact info
  • Resume (include any flight time)
  • College transcripts (scans acceptible)
  • AFOQT scores (minimum scores: Pilot 25, Nav 10, but must have a combined Pilot/Nav score of 50, Verbal 15, Quantitative 10)
  • PCSM (Pilot Candidate Selection Method/TBAS) score
  • Copy of any current military FC1 medical or FAA medical clearance
  • Copy of any civilian aeronautical ratings/certificates and the last page of your logbook
  • Copy of your driver's license
  • Letters of recommendation (3 desired)
  • Last 3 military performance reports (if applicable)
  • Most recent USAF personnel RIP (Report of Individual Person) or equivalent (if applicable)
  • Your DD Form 214 (only if you've separated from the military)
